FAQ

Is my money safe? add

All payments are processed through Stripe, the same infrastructure used by Amazon, Google, and Shopify. Your money is held securely until your oath is settled. We never store your card details.

What happens if I fail? add

In a 1v1, your opponent takes the pot (minus a 5% platform fee). In solo mode, half goes to charity and half to the platform. Either way, your money is gone. That's the point.

Is this gambling? add

No. Gambling requires chance — on Oath the outcome depends entirely on your own verified actions: whether you went to the gym, ran the miles, or shipped the code. No randomness, no odds, no house. It's a commitment contract, the same legal category as Stickk and Beeminder, which have operated across the US for nearly two decades.

How does verification work? add

Everything is automated. Gym check-ins use GPS, running syncs with Strava or Apple Health, LeetCode and GitHub connect via API, wake-up goals use timed check-ins, and steps pull from Apple Health. For custom goals, you upload photo proof.

Can I cheat? add

We pull data directly from source APIs and GPS — not self-reported. If you think a result is wrong, there's a 12-hour dispute window where you can submit proof. Your opponent reviews it, and admins can step in if needed.

What are the fees? add

5% platform fee, only charged when there's a winner and a loser. If both players complete their oath, everyone gets a full refund with zero fees. We only make money when someone fails.

Can I cancel and get a refund? add

You can cancel before your opponent accepts the challenge — full refund, no questions. Once both sides are locked in, there's no backing out. That's what makes it real.

What if we both complete our goals? add

Everybody wins. Both players get their full deposit back, no fee charged. The best outcome is when everyone shows up.
